The Hotel Seymour, Seymour - Saturday May 12, 2018

Since we have started our quest, we have discovered many interesting historic Supper Clubs in the surrounding area.  The Hotel Seymour Supper Club certainly fit that description.  The building dates back to 1898 and was originally known as the Hotel Falck, a 28 room establishment with a barber shop and showers in the basement for travelers, often salesman, arriving on the Green Bay and Western Railroad.  In 1951 it became the Hotel Seymour.  Two hotel rooms and 4 apartments in the building are still used today.

We arrived at about 7:30 on a Saturday night.  The Hotel Seymour has a large oval bar and a back lounge room with plenty of seating.  It was busy and everyone in the barroom was quite friendly, smiling and saying hello as we worked our way around the bar to find two open seats.

The bartender greeted us and took our standard drink order – BOFP, BOFS.   The drinks were good and strong.  We checked in with the hostess and for the first time ever on our Supper Club quest were given a pager that lights up when our table is ready.  After about 30 minutes or so, our light went off and we approached the hostess stand and were shown to our table.

Breaking from Supper Club tradition, we placed our orders at the table instead of the bar.  We both ordered the 10 oz prime rib.  I had the American fries with onions and Paul tried the fettuccine Alfredo as his side, having heard that they were known for excellent pasta dishes.  We visited the salad bar, which was typical and quite good.  It had several of my favorites including the crumbly bleu cheese and sunflower seeds.   All the food was very good.  The 10 oz prime rib seemed larger than that, and I took half of it home with me.  The American fries were done just right and Paul praised the fettucinne, noting that it was nice to have a different side option.

We very much enjoyed the food and total experience at the Hotel Seymour.  It truly is a very friendly and historic Supper Club.
