Jim and Linda's Lakeview Supper Club, Pipe - Tuesday June 5, 2018

Tonight we decided to head down the east side of Lake Winnebago to try Jim and Linda’s Lakeview Supper Club in Pipe.   This year Jim and Linda Koenigs are celebrating 40 years in business. The building has gone through several remodels and expansions since they purchased Harry’s Lakeview in September 1978 when Jim was just 19 years old and Linda Meyer was 20. The result is a thriving dinner business featuring beautiful sunsets close to the shore of Lake Winnebago. We arrived around 6:45 to a half full bar room featuring a large oval shaped bar.   The bartender promptly served up a couple of old fashioneds, strong and very good, and put our name on the list for dinner. We enjoyed the view, catching part of the Brewer game and snacking on the pretzel mix provided with our cocktails. Kropp's Supper Club, Mill Center - Wednesday May 30, 2018

Located in the unincorporated village of Mill Center, northwest of Green Bay, the Kropp’s Supper Club building dates back to 1904 and was originally a tavern, food and lodging establishment for weary travelers in horse-drawn wagons to stop on the way to and from Green Bay.   The Kropp family has owned the supper club since 1947.     They are open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and from 3-8 on Sundays following noon home Packer games. We arrived around 7pm when a large group of senior citizens, quite a bit older than us, was just leaving, all with smiles on their faces and small boxes of leftovers in hand, always a good sign.   The long bar and tables in the barroom were pretty full with what seemed to be a lot of “regulars” and some families with children but we managed to find two seats at the bar.     As soon as we sat down, the bartender, Gillie, who is a Kropp son-in-law, approached us for our drink order.
