Jim and Linda's Lakeview Supper Club, Pipe - Tuesday June 5, 2018
Tonight we decided to head down the east side of Lake
Winnebago to try Jim and Linda’s Lakeview Supper Club in Pipe. This year Jim and Linda Koenigs are
celebrating 40 years in business. The building has gone through several
remodels and expansions since they purchased Harry’s Lakeview in September 1978
when Jim was just 19 years old and Linda Meyer was 20. The result is a thriving
dinner business featuring beautiful sunsets close to the shore of Lake
Winnebago.
We arrived around 6:45 to a half full bar room featuring
a large oval shaped bar. The bartender
promptly served up a couple of old fashioneds, strong and very good, and put
our name on the list for dinner. We enjoyed the view, catching part of the
Brewer game and snacking on the pretzel mix provided with our cocktails. A
large stuffed sturgeon was in a display case in the corner of the room, not
unusual for a Lake Winnebago watering hole.
A waitress soon came and took our order and told us we
could head over to Table #1 whenever we were ready. Ann chose the Chicken Romanoff, listed as a
house favorite, a panko crusted chicken breast served with noodles, sour cream
and chives and broccoli as a side. I
opted for the Cajun Supreme, another house favorite, a sirloin steak on Texas
toast finished with fresh asparagus and a creamy mushroom garlic cheese sauce,
and twice baked potato. After ordering another cocktail we headed to the dining
room and a great view of the lake.
Dinner began with a cup of homemade vegetable soup
followed by a fresh garden salad and warm dinner rolls. The soup was very good
as were the bleu cheese and French dressings. Our entrees were very good as
well, especially the fresh asparagus, cooked to perfection.
Jim and Linda attribute their success to serving good
food and cocktails at a fair price in a casual atmosphere with great employees
and some incredible sunsets over Lake Winnebago. This night was no exception.
We will definitely be back in the future.
